Thinking of becoming a UW Partner? Questions to ask before joining

Before joining, be clear on five things: what the work involves each week, what it costs, what training you'll get, who supports you, and how UW pays Partners. This page lists the questions to ask; it doesn't contain reviews or testimonials.
What will I actually be doing?
Talking with people about their household bills, checking whether UW suits them and helping them sign up. Some Partners also help others join. Ask your sponsoring Partner to walk you through a normal week.
What does it cost?
UW's official page currently states a £10 one-off joining fee and £3 per month from month four, paid to UW. Plan for your own time, travel and phone costs too.
What training and support will I get?
UW provides structured training and tools. Ask your sponsor what they add. Scott offers a starter pack, a personalised plan, sales training and help with your first 10 calls.
How do earnings work?
Earnings come from qualifying customers under UW's terms, including upfront payments and ongoing income. They vary widely and aren't guaranteed. Read UW's own payment information rather than relying on anyone's screenshots.
Common concerns
"Will I have to pressure friends?" You shouldn't. Only speak with people who are open to it. "Is it a job?" No, it's self-employed. "Can I do it part-time?" Yes; most people start that way.
Is Utility Warehouse an MLM or pyramid scheme?
It's a fair question, and UW does use a network of self-employed Partners. The key point is where the money comes from. Partner earnings are tied to real customers taking UW's household services, such as energy, broadband and mobile, under UW's terms.
Partners who help others join and support them can also earn from that team's customer activity. You can choose to focus only on your own customers without recruiting anyone.
Costs are UW's joining fee and monthly fee (see above). There's no stock to buy. Earnings are not guaranteed, and some Partners earn little or nothing.

Reading reviews elsewhere
Online opinions about any self-employed opportunity vary. Look for specifics (costs, hours, support) rather than headline claims, and check facts against UW's official information.
Scott's practical tip: Ask any Partner who wants to sponsor you exactly what help they'll give in your first month. A clear answer tells you a lot.
