Introducing homeowners without selling: a practical guide to the UW Connector route
By Scott McCaw, independent authorised UW Partner ยท Reviewed 25 September 2026
As a UW Connector you don't sell anything. You ask a homeowner whether they'd like to hear about UW, and if they say yes, you pass them to Scott through UW's official process. Scott handles the conversation, and UW decides whether the introduction qualifies for a reward.
Example: an accountant
During a year-end review a client mentions rising household bills. You ask if they'd like a Partner to get in touch about bringing their services together. They agree, and you make the introduction. That's your part done.
Example: an estate agent
A buyer is moving into a new home and needs energy and broadband set up. With their permission, you introduce them to Scott at a natural moment, not as a condition of the sale.
Example: a tradesperson
After fitting a boiler or rewiring a kitchen, a homeowner asks about their energy costs. You mention that you can introduce them to someone who can explain UW, and only pass their details on if they say yes.
Permission comes first
Only introduce people who've clearly agreed to be contacted. Don't pass on details as a favour or without asking. It protects the homeowner, your reputation and the introduction itself.
What happens after the hand-off
Scott contacts the homeowner, answers their questions and helps them sign up if UW suits them. UW then checks whether the introduction meets its conditions and pays any reward directly.
Scott's practical tip: One short, honest sentence is enough: "Would you like me to put you in touch with someone who can look at your bills?"
